There are so many things I love about photography being my job and having the opportunity to capture precious moments in my friends lives is a really big one! I took advantage of a long weekend to go to Perth for a very special little girl’s cake smash portrait photography session. The very special little girl is Abi, the daughter of my wonderful friend Rachel. 2.5 years ago I had the opportunity to capture Abi’s big sister Natalie’s cake smash and I was so excited to do the same again! Because Abi is the baby her Mum and I have been having trouble accepting that she’s growing up, so we joked about my first newborn cake smash! I even used a newborn prop to capture a few pictures of this “just born” little princess – 367 days new!
Then we moved onto the actual cake smash session! The gorgeous bunting was custom made by Steph at Steph’s Designs who also provided the pom poms and balloons and the outfits to match the colour scheme I wanted! Steph also made a matching bunting for Natalie to keep, it was all absolutely beautiful! Abi wore the necklace I bought for Natalie’s cake smash and I was so excited to have that carry on. The absolutely delicious cake was made by Mitch + Meg. I LOVE all the creative stuff Mitch + Meg do and was so excited to have them deliver this beautiful cake (did I mention it was delicious?!). I was lucky enough to be able to do this cake smash session with the assistance of Rachel – Abi’s Mum but also Rochelle who fortunately has known me for a very long time and didn’t take offence to the behind the camera bossiness!
And of course Natalie was a wonderful assistant! She loved the idea of the smash cake and helping demonstrate to Abi how to eat it. I love these two together. Big brother Will was busy hanging out with Dad and hiding from the chaos but he too really enjoyed the cake!
Thank you so much to Rachel & Lee for sharing your beautiful family with me. x
